How to make a wooden bathroom caddy bridge

100% of 100%
Time for a relaxing moment to yourself. You run yourself a bath, pour yourself a drink and pick out a book. But where do you put them? You need a caddy bridge! You’ll never need to balance your wine glass on the edge of the bath again.
  1. Step 1: Measure the width of your bath from outer edge to outer edge. Measure the same distance on the plank, make a mark with a pencil where you need to saw and use the circular saw to cut to size, so you end up with two planks.
  2. Tip

Always measure from the two ends of the plank, so that you make your saw cuts towards the middle. This ensures that each piece has only one saw cut.
  3. Step 2: Saw the smaller piece into three 40cm sections.
  4. Step 3: Measure the width of your bath from inner edge to inner edge. Align the two planks on the floor and mark off this distance with a pencil on both of them.
  5. Step 4: Place one of the smaller pieces of wood along each of the pencil lines on the underside of the planks and screw them into place. The smaller pieces will fit against the edge of the bath, ensuring the caddy bridge cannot slide off. Screw the other two smaller pieces of wood about the same distance apart left and right of the centre of the planks. These two smaller pieces of wood make the caddy bridge more robust.
  6. Step 5: Drill a hole in the front plank with the 22 mm spade bit. Now saw in a line from the side towards this hole. First saw toward the left side of the hole, then toward the right side.
  7. Step 6: Trace a tealight in pencil on the plank. You are free to choose where you do this. Use the spade bit to hollow it out. Don’t go too deep. You don’t want to make a hole. Clean up the hollow with the multi-tool to make it round and smooth.
  8. Step 7: Sand the whole piece with the multi-tool.
  9. Step 8: Coat with a transparent stain that is suitable for humid spaces.
  10. Step 9: Run a bath, light a candle, pour yourself a drink... and relax.
